The leader of the Mundësia party, Agron Shehaj, has denounced police violence against students and young people who entered the grounds of the Orthodox Church in Tiranë to escape police terror.
Speaking from the church grounds, Shehaj said the police had not spared even the protesters who sought shelter inside the religious building, accusing officers of barbaric violence against young people.
“The protesters tried to avoid the violence, to escape police violence by coming in here, into the Church. The police did not care. And here, inside the church, they beat them. They beat the protesters. They beat the students.”
Shehaj said that Rama and his people respect neither church nor mosque. The Mundësia leader described the violence against students as an attempt by those in power to crush the protests and keep Edi Rama in power at any cost.
He warned that everyone responsible for the violence against protesters will be held to account, stressing that not even the young people who had sought protection inside the church were spared.
“These people respect neither church nor mosque. They are ready to do anything just to stay in power, just to save Edi Rama. They will be held responsible one day. There is no question about it, for every beating, for every protester, for every student, for every young person they have brutally beaten, even inside a church.”
